Mongrel (the story so far…)

The story begins with a bunch of guys hanging out at Ivan’s house (Doug and cousins Johnny and J.P.). J.P. reveals his latest possession given to him from the local Army Surplus Store - a monkey paw. The guys question J.P.’s sense of judgment (or lack of) as he recalls how he was unexpectedly given the talisman. Soon afterward, a few uninvited visitors show up on Ivan’s porch - Derek (a.k.a. “The Douchebag”), Steve, and Chuck. Johnny tries to end the confrontation between Ivan and Derek, but things get out of control quickly. Chris just arrives as the fight between Johnny and Derek begins, which ends with a pick-up crash and a fatal freak accident. A couple of months have passed since Johnny’s funeral, and there’s still no word on the whereabouts of Derek, Steve, and Chuck. In a nostalgic moment, J.P. wishes that Johnny was still alive, not in the cemetary, in one piece, and without the broken neck, in the presence of the monkey paw. Shortly after, Johnny’s corpse emerges from his grave…
